Lease Termination Letter To Landlord

  • By | Comments Off

As you plan to move to a new home, you should never ignore the importance of writing a lease termination letter to your current landlord. This legal letter is written in advance, preferably 30 days before deciding to move-out.

When writing a lease termination letter to your landlord, always follow this format.

    Date of vacation

Explain when and why you want to move out of the premises. The landlord expects you to move at the end of the month and at times, you might not be allowed to extend your stay for a few more days.

    Utilities

Also mention the fate of your utilities and what you would like to do about them. You may indicate the service to be terminated if you wish to.

    Inspection

Make sure you are present during the inspection of the property you are about to vacate. State how the inspection should be carried out and whether you will be present or not.

It is always recommended that you should be available during the inspection to make sure that the results are correct and accepted by both parties.

    Security deposit

Inform your current landlord where the security fees should be deposited. In most cases, the fees should be deposited within thirty to sixty days.

    Keys

It is always good to let your current landlord how you plan to return the keys after you move out.
